About Max Power
Max Power is Westgroove’s resident DJ and the person behind the station’s live broadcasts from Haverfordwest.
A record collector long before becoming a broadcaster, his taste was shaped by funk, soul, blues and classic rock before expanding into disco, house, jazz-funk and the harder-to-classify records that regularly turn up in a Westgroove set.
His shows are mixed live and loosely planned. There may be a handful of tracks ready at the start, but the running order develops as the programme moves. A familiar record can lead into an overlooked album track, an extended mix, an old soul cut or something recently discovered.
Max avoids talking over every intro or filling gaps simply because radio traditionally expects it. When there is something worth saying, he says it. The rest of the time, the records are allowed to do their job.
On air
Max Power presents live sessions on Westgroove, moving across genres without forcing the show into a fixed format. Expect strong opening records, unexpected changes of direction and tracks that rarely appear together anywhere else.
